يتضمن هذا العمل قراءة نقدية في ديوان الشاعر "محمد الحضرمي" الشاعر الذي سكنه المكان والزمان، وسكن هو الإنسان، فأخرج ديوانه "في السهل يشدو اليمام". هكذا وصفه الناقد والأديب خميس العدوي وهو يتتبع مساره الأدبي خطوة – خطوة، منذ أن بدأ الحضرمي قراءته للأدب في "منح" العتيقة برائحة الأجداد وبين حدائق بلدة (معمد الوارفة)، منسلاً يومياً من تحت أغصانها باتجاه مدرسة مالك بن فهم، وهناك أشرب العلم لينعكس طيفاً رقيقاً على شعره .. ولما انساح الحضرمي إلى مسقط مع بداية عمره الوظيفي في نهاية ثمانينات القرن العشرين، كانت القصيدة تخرج كمسقط من عباءة الماضي لترتدي ثوباً جديداً ... وكمسقط أيضاً أبى الحضرمي أن يتنكر للماضي لكونه ماضياً، فأراد أن يصنع منه تصميماً متجانساً بين ما هو ماضٍ وبين ما هو آت، فكتب شعر التفعيلة، مودعاً عمود الشعر، دون أن يرحب بقصيدة النثر، وإن فعل هذا وذاك فليس أكثر من إطلالة فضول عابرة.
من عناوين الكتاب نذكر: الشاعر الحضرمي، عند مصراع الباب، قصائد في صفحة الماء بيضاء، نهر من العشق يسكب شلاله، نشيد المزامير، لوحة حرة، إنكسار في أجنحة اليمام ... حاسوب وتنورة وكائن أسطوري ... الخ.
يُذكر أن الحضرمي هو من شعراء عمان في مرحلة ما بعد الحداثة "حيث إنسانها يريد أن يحدثه بصدق عن غربته لينشد الهدوء، وعن وحدته ليزيل الوحشة ...". هكذا ختم الكاتب قراءته لديوان الحضرمي قائلاً:
هل تبدو لكم قراءتي في ديوان الحضرمي ؛ عالقة في صفحة الرمال ، كختم لا تذروه الرياح؟ ، أقول لكم، والحق أقول: قد تذروه الرياح فتذره قاعاً صفصفاً".
