هذا الكتاب عبارة عن سردية من سيرة ذاتية جاءت تحت عنوان "فلتة زمانه" للكاتب اللبناني "فيصل فرحات" جرت أحداثها في بيروت وطرابلس وبكفيا ما بين عامي 1972- 1973.
"فلتة زمانه" هي محطات، وأحداث، ومغامرات، عايشها الكاتب عن قرب أثر وتأثر بها تحكي قصة إنطلاقته ورحلته في الحزب منذ سن السادسة عشرة ربيعاً، ثم رحلة الكتابة والتعبير عن الذات...
عن رحلته في الكتابة يقول: "... وحينها بدت لي الكتابة التي كانت قوتي (وما زالت) منذ أن كنت طفلاً في الحادية عشرة، وكأنها فعلاً في الحياة الثانية... إزدادت قراءاتي في ذلك الوقت، إذ كنت اقرأ كتاباً أو مسرحية كل يوم أو كل يومين، وبخاصة مسرحيات برتولد بريشت التي كان يعطيني إياها الأستاذ "جلال" طالباً مني قراءتها...".
"فلتة زمانه" هي أكثر من سيرة ذاتية، هي ذلك التنوع اللبناني بكل زخمه، أو بالأحرى، هي لبنان السبعينيات التي شكلتها جذورها الأصلية المغروسة في سنوات الماضي العربي، وهو يتشكل في بطنها وعلى جبالها، فتح فيها "فيصل فرحات" الكاتب والإنسان الباب على فصل هو أشبه بالربيع... ربيع ذلك الزمن الجميل الذي عاشته البلاد قبل أن يدق ناقوس الخطر وتدخل في دوامة الحروب والصراعات...
... حينها أرخت «عصرها». ثم تنهدت وأطلقت عدة آهات. أما أنا فشعرت بتعب يشبه الوجع، وبفرح يشبه الضياع. أصبح جسدي الفتي مثل عجينة مبللة بالعرق والكولونيا. حينها نظر كلانا إلى عيني الآخر وابتسمنا، ثم ضحكنا قليلاً.
وفيما كنت أنقلب عن جسدها، قبّلتني على خدي، وفركت شعري، ثم «قرصت» خدي. حينها تغيّرت ملامح وجهها، الذي أصبح أجمل وكأنه وجه ثانٍ. هي التي كانت أكبر من أمي وأصغر من جدتي. في ذاك الليل، وقبل أن أغفو ورأسي على الوسادة تذكرت جورجيت.. وسمعت صوت نادين. ورأيت «الوجه الثاني».
