كان أحمد بن حنبل علما من اعلام الفقه الاسلامي والحضارة العربية حيث وضع مذهبا سنيا جديدا وأسس مدرسة فقهية خلدت على مر العصور ولا يزال لهذا المذهب صداه الكبير في تاريخ امتنا العربية وقد كتب عدد كبير من الباحثين والدارسين وكتاب التاريخ والسير والطبقات الدراسات المستفيضة حول مذهب احمد ابن حنبل وشخصيته وتربيته وشيوخه وتلاميذه ومؤلفاته وعلى الاخص مؤلفه العظيم المشهور بمسند احمد نذكر من هؤلاء الباحثين القدامى ابن الجوزي في كتابه "مناقب الإمام احمد بن حنبل" والإمام الذهبي في كتابه"سير أعلام النبلاء". أما الباحثون المحدثون في وقتنا هذا فمنهم على سبيل المثال الاستاذ عبد الحليم الجنيد والاستاذ أمين الخولي وغيرهما.
وصاحب هذا الكتاب "الجوهر المحصل في مناقب الإمام احمد بن حنبل" هو محمد بن محمد بن ابي بكر بن خالدر البدر السدرشي الأصل القاهري المولد أما الكتاب فهو عن مخطوطة هى تجميع وتلخيص لأمهات كتب ومصادر الحنابلة التى تناولت الإمام احمد بن حنبل.
