(أبحث عن نفسي) قصة رومانسية تتحدث عن فتاة شابة تشهد حياتها الكثير من النكسات والتقلبات على الصعيد العائلي والشخصي. تبدأ الرواية بإخبار البطلة عن نفسها على طريقة حكواتي أيام زمان. تقول: "كان ياما كان .. في الماضي يا بعيد .. كان أني طفلة ولدت لـ (السلطان) !، قالت لي رباب إن أهل القرية كانوا يسمون والدي هكذا .. كان جدي الأكبر ، (النوخذة) محمد غريب يسكن المحرق. كان له إثنان من الأبناء، أكبرهما مراد الذي أنجب سالم صبياً، وثلاث بنات هن عايشة وسميرة، والصغرى ليلى (أمي). أما إبنه الثاني عبد الرحمن، فقد كان جدي لوالدي خالد، كما أنجب وداد، عمتي التي أصبحت فيما بعد زوجة لخالي سالم ( ...) ". هذا الخليط العائلي المعقد، صاغته الروائية البحرينية "فتحية ناصر" في ثلاثية من عشرة فصول وأربعين باب، تفتح فتحية ناصر أبوابه لتكشف الصراع الأزلي بين ما يريد الإنسان لنفسه وبين أن ينساق لما قدّر له سلفاً، كل ذلك يأتي عبر شخصيات تتفاوت في طريقة رؤيتها لذاتها وللحياة بكل شعابها وتعقيداتها الأيديولوجية والثقافية، جميعها يعاني من عاطفة مثبطة، لديها إحساس عميق بهشاشة لامتناهية، ومن ثم نوع من الإنصياع المبرمج للعادات والتقاليد، في دائرة تتجدد مع كل زمن ومع كل جيل، كل ذلك تسوقه الروائية في سياق حبكة مكتملة في رحلة البحث عن النفس.
