والكتاب بمضمونه هو بحث في نظرية السرد يعرض آخر ما توصلت إليه الدكتورة آمنة يوسف: " ... حول تقنيتين سرديتين نوردهما على سبيل التمثيل، لا الحصر ... ونربط مدلولهما الغني بمصطلح (الإتجاه) الذي ينقسم لدينا إلى تقليدي، فحديث، فجديد، بحسب ما نفترض أنه ينطلق برأينا من مرحلتين، لعلهما زمنيتين، هما: مرحلة ما قبل تهجين الإتجاه التي نحن بصدد التنظير النقدي لتقنيتي (الرؤية – الصورة) في ضوئها هنا ... وما يمكن أن نشير إليه في سياق ذلك من تقنيات سردية أخرى منطلقة من فلسفة الإتجاه الأدبي الواحد المهيمن غالباً على هذا النص الروائي أو ذاك .. ثم نتناول بالتنظير وبالتطبيق مرحلة ما بعد التهجين لاحقاً ..."
