يأتي هذا الإصدار انطلاقاً من أهمية القطاع الصحي في الأردن، الذي يمس حياة المواطن بصورة مباشرة ومؤثرة، ويمثل حصيلة ندوة جامعة عقدت في منتدى عبد الحميد شومان الثقافي، في شهر نيسان سنة 1999، بمشاركة نخبة من ذوي الاختصاص في القطاع الطبي الأردني بشقيه: العام والخاص، ممثلاً بوزارة الصحة، والخدمات الطبية الملكية، والقطاع الطبي الجامعي، والقطاع الطبي الخاص.
وتوزعت أعمال هذه الندوة على المحاور الرئيسة المتعلقة بالقطاع الصحي في الأردن وتطلعاته المستقبلية، حيث تم تناول القضايا المتصلة بواقع الخدمات الصحية على تعددها، فضلاً عن التركيز على ما تم تحقيقه على صعيد الرعاية الصحية الأولية، وما تم إنجازه في مجال التميز الطبي في الأردن، كما تم استعراض واقع التأمين الصحي، والخيارات المتعددة لاستكماله وتجويد خدماته بكثير من الإسهاب والعناية.
ونأمل أن يشكل هذا الإصدار معيناً نافعاً نضعه بين أيدي القراء الكرام وأهل الرأي والاختصاص بغية الإسهام والمشاركة في التصدي لمعالجة كل ما يتصل بهذا القطاع المهم في حياتنا بعلم وموضوعية واقتدار.
