هذا الكتاب هو محاولة لمخاطبة الممارسات المحتملة لللاعنف وصنع السلام في المحيط العربي المسلم. وهو يهدف إلى دراسة بعض المفاهيم الخاطئة والمعلومات الأساسية المضللة في الخارج في الدراسات الإسلامية عن وجهات نظر المسلمين حول اللاعنف وصنع السلام، ليس فقط عن طريق تقديم آيات قرآنية وأمثلة من حياة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وأقواله (الحديث الشريف)، ولكن عن طريق تقديم أمثلة من ممارسات صنع السلام والقيم بين المسلمين المعاصرين. والمقصود بالأساس من الاستعانة بالآيات القرآنية الكريمة في هذه الدراسة هو تأييد فرضية أن الإسلام هو دين حي وتقليد يعزز صنع السلام وتسوية النزاعات سلمياً. سأبذل جهدي لإظهار كيف يمكن لممارسات كهذه أن تنتشر أكثر في الثقافة الإسلامية المعاصرة. هذه الدراسة ليست اعتذارية ولا تبريرية ولا تبشيراً بالدين الإسلامي، فهي تسعى لتعزيز بقوة استراتيجيات صنع السلام واللاعنف والقيم المتجذرة في السياقات الدينية والثقافية الإسلامية الطبيعية، مركزة على تعريف القيم والشعائر والقصص الإسلامية ونظرة الإسلام للعالم.
