تُدْخِلنا مايا حبشي الأشقر في هذه الرواية عالماً غريباً هو عالمها. تتداخل فيه السيرة الذاتية الخالصة بالمتخيل والمتوهم، ويمتزج فيه الواقعي بالأسطوري والتاريخي الزمني بالمثالي المطلق. إلا أن ما يشدّ هذا العالم بعضه إلى بعض فيشيع فيه جميعاً ويُضفي عليه هوية مميزة، نوعٌ من الرؤيا الطفوليّة التي لا تنبع من شخص بالغ يصنع الطفولة ولا من طفل ليس له بَعْدُ نظرة البالغين. إنها رؤيا إنسان مكتمل فَجَعَه عالم البلوغ المخادع إذ رآه بأم عينه يتداعى أمامه ويسقط، فانسلّ إلى الطفولة. الأطفال وحدهم يعرفون كيف يُحيلون الخرائب إلى ملاعب.
