في هذا الكتاب إثبات بالدلائل التاريخية والفكرية أن مذهب التشيع - وخاصة مذهب الشيعة الغلاة الذي ورث التشيع السياسي في القرنين الأول والثاني الهجريين، ثم تحول إلى مذهب ديني - قد استعار أفكاره واعتقاداته من عناصر أجنبية، تبدأ من الديانات الوثنية: كالمجوسية والهندية، أو ديانة وادي الرافدين والصابئة، أو من ديانات سماوية كاليهودية والنصرانية، أو من الفلسفة اليونانية وخاصة الأفلاطونية المحدثة، وأثبتنا انتقال تلك العناصر عن طريق عدة جسور ووسائل وأسباب، منها العرب الذين كانوا على النصرانية أو اليهودية ثم دخلوا الإسلام والتشيع خاصة، واستوطنوا البلاد المفتوحة، فهؤلاء العرب كانوا من أوائل الشيعة السياسيين في القرون الأولى، ثم تبين لنا دور الموالي والشعوبية، ورواة الحديث في نقل العناصر الأجنبية إلى التشيع خاصة في مراكز التشيع كالكوفة والمدائن وقم في إيران. كما أثبتنا الدور الذي قامت به بعض فرق الصوفية في نقل تلك العناصر الأجنبية إلى التشيع، وخاصة فرقة البكتاشية وعلاقتها فيما بعد بالدولة الصفوية، وأثبتنا يقينًا جملة من علماء وفلاسفة وصوفية شيعة إمامية، كانوا يحملون بعضًا من تلك العناصر الأجنبية في أفكارهم، وذلك مما دونوه في كتبهم على امتداد تاريخ التشيع. والسؤال الذي يطرح نفسه الآن، وفي هذه الظروف: هل يمكن إصلاح الفكر الشيعي؟ وذلك بتقديم بعض المحاولات التي نترك للقارئ تقييم قدرتها على الإصلاح. أملنا كبير أن يكون هذا الإصلاح على يد علماء الشيعة أنفسهم؛ لأنهم أعرف من غيرهم بمذهبهم، وهم القادرون على على إصلاح ما سببه الشيعة الغلاة طيلة تاريخ التشيع.
