يرتكز البناء الشعري عند عيسى الشيخ حسن في مجموعته الشعرية "حَمامٌ كثيف" على تقنيات سيمية تقوم على أساس فاعلية المكان أو فاعلية الزمن لتجتمع داخل منطقة الشعر، المنطقة الأكثر قدرة من باقي المناطق الفنية الأخرى على الجمع بين ما هو متناقض وغير منطقي في حياة الإنسان، يتمظهر هذا الكلام إلى حد ما في القصيدة المعنونة "المتغير والثابت"، يقول الشاعر:
" يمرّ/ الباص القديم يمرّ/ السيارة الشاحنة تمرّ/ الدراجات الهوائية/ بسائقيها المراهقين/ تمرّ/ العربة ذات العجلات الثلاث/ تمرّ/ الرجال العابرون بوجوههم الصارمة/ يمرّون/ الطلاب بمظلاتهم وكتبهم الملفوفة بمطاط مشدود/ يمرّون/ العائدات من الفرن/ يمررن/ العسكري الذي نزل من الباص وحيداً/ يمرّ/ كلهم يمرّون/ وحده ظل هناك/ طريق (الزفت) المغبّر/ ينام/ منتظراً مرورهم/ عند كل شتاء". إن من أبرز التقنيات السيمية التي وظفتها القصيدة هي دلالة الصور المتعاقبة على معنىً واحد وهو فعل (المرور)، وترتيب حضوره في النص بشكل متعاقب، وهذا التعاقب هو الذي من شأنه أن يستثمر المحيط الذي تتحرك ضمنه الشخصيات (الرجال - الطلاب - العسكري ..." عن طريق تأشير موقعهم ورصد سلوكهم الداخلي والخارجي ومن ثمّ تكوين الصورة النهائية لطبيعة التجربة الوقائعية في العمل الفني.
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "ندامة الكسعي" ، "ليت الفتى" ، "وحيداً" ، "سبب" ، "أمنية" ، "وكان وراءهم ملك" ، "سؤال" ، "إعتراف" ، "حكمة" ، "تعريف" ، "أُلفة" ، (...) وعناوين أخرى.
