نوع من السيرة الذاتية يتعلّق بمظاهر صيام رمضان في الريف السوري، عبر مشاهد عاشها الكاتب. وفي الجزء الثاني يخصّص الكاتب مجموعة صور أو "مرايا" يتذكّر فيها بعض الراحلين الذي أثروا حياته وأثّروا فيها، لتكوّن في مجموعها صورة من المجتمع السوري في الربع الأخير من القرن الماضي. عاش الكاتب متنقّلًا بين أمكنة كثيرة منحته تجربة الانتقال بين ثقافات مختلفة، وتحدّث عن مجموعة بشرية مختلفة المشارب والثقافات والمكانة، ولكنّه كتب عنهم جميعًا بحبّ.
