بعد وفاة “الشنفراني” الذي سُجّي في زاوية مسجده وعليه بيارق خضر وكتابات مقدسة بخط الثلث للتبرّك به، عكفت ابنته “رنيم”، الجامعيّة التي لا تنتمي إلى عوالم والدها وقريته البسيطة، على قراءة مخطوط قضى حياته في كتابته، فتشوّشت رؤيتها للعالم وتواترت عليها أحلام عجيبة تراها وهي مفتوحة العينين أحياناً. تطوف أحلامها الغريبة في أسواق كئيبة تحت الأرض تمُتّ لعوالم الأموات، وفي زواريبها التقت بالشنفراني على سدة ملكية. ماذا يقول لها والدها عبر مخطوطته وفي العالم السفلي؟ الشنفراني ابن الشهيد، اليتيم الذي هرب من قريته بعد سرقة خاله لأمواله وانتسب إلى المدرسة الخسروية في حلب (سوريا)، ثم هرب مرة أخرى إثر خلاف مع أحد المشائخ واستقر في بلاد الهند والسند كي يتلقّى الحكمة. لماذا عاد؟
