تتكشف معضلة المكان في شكلها العقد، حينما يلامس التفسير والتأويل تخوماً، يكون فيها المعنى أكثر إرتباطاً بالمكان وإيحاءاته.
وكأن المعنى لا يكتسب أبعاده القصوى إلاّ إذا استرفد المكان، واستخلص منه محمولاته الدلالية، فإذا اقتصر التأويل على المعطيات الفكرية، والإجتماعية، والنفسية، مثلاً فإن صنيعه ذاك يظل ناقصاً، مهما كانت درجة العمق والإجادة في خطابه.
بل إننا نزعم الساعة أن التـأويل الذي يكتفي بذلك النزر القليل من الفحص، تأويل ناقص، لا يمكن أن يصل إلى عمق النص أبداً، ما دامت المعطيات نفسها لا تتأسس قاعدة علمية، إلاّ إذا أخذت حظها من الإرتباط التشعّبي الذي يشدها إلى المكان.
إننا عندما نقلِّب مباحث الفلسفة، وعلم الإجتماع، وعلم النفس، والأنثروبولوجيا نتأكد من الحضور الطاغي للمكان، بل قد نجد المقابلة التالية: الإنسان / المكان في كل سطر نقرأه، وكأننا إزاء حقيقة أولية في كل فهم يروم النزول إلى أغوار الذات الإنسانية: شخصية، وفرداً، ووجوداً، وهوية، وفكرة... وتلك حقيقة لم نجد لها في الدرس الأدبي إلاّ حضوراً باهتاً...
