والمؤلف هو البروفسير السويسري "إريك هورنونج" الذي قضى عشرات السنين في وادي الملوك، بقرنة الأقصر، قارئاً وباحثاً، وهو من أبرز وأشهر وأهم علماء المصريات المعاصرين بمعظم الجامعات الأوروبية. وقد ترجم عدد من كتبه العميقة والدقيقة إلى كثير من لغات العالم، ومنها لغة الضاد الشريفة المنيفة.
