روائي وكاتب لبناني.
له في الرواية "بناية ماتيلد" و"غناء البطريق" و"لعب حيّ البياض" و"ماكياج خفيف لهذه الليلة".
وفي القصّة "تحت شرفة أنجي" و"نزهة الملاك".
ترجمت رواياته إلى الإنكليزية والفرنسية والألمانية والإيطالية.
ولد حسن داوود سنة 1951، وهو يعمل صحفي في اليومية البيروتية "المستقبل"، درس الأدب العربي بالجامعة اللبنانية في بيروت.
ظهرت أوّل رواية له باللغة الفرنسية بعنوان "ضيعة ماتلدا" سنة 1998، وتبعتها رواية ثانية بعنوان "الأيام الأخيرة"، وهي دراسة نفسية عميقة حول الشيخوخة.

كتاب عن النسوة، كله لهن. وقد خرجن فيه من أدوارهن القليلة التي جعلت لهن في الروايات والقصص. هن في هذا الكتاب بطلات، يقمن بأدوار كاملة. لا يساعدن البطل على الوصول إلى نهايته الدرامية بل ينتهين هن أنفسهن.
كتاب عن النسوة. عن "هن"، يقتعدن نون التأنيث فينشغلن فيها ويحكيم ويحلمن. النون سرت، مخففة أو مشددة، في الكتاب كله، فكانت لهن اللغة أيضاً. تاء التأنيث أو نون النسوة، ولا تظهر واو جماعة الرجال إلا ليعبر واحدهم سريعاً أو يغيب.
النسوة لم يعرفن كتاباً حضرن فيه بهذه الكثرة، أتين كلهن صغيرات وعوانس وبطلات وزوجات وأنصاف رجال ومتقدمات قليلاً في العمر، ليسبحن معاً في لجة واحدة.
