يعد كتاب الجليس الأنيس في تحريم الخندريس من نوادر مخطوطات التراث العربي والإسلامي، فمؤلفه محمد بن يعقوب الفيروزآبادي (ت 817 / 1414) هو ممن عُرفوا بالبلاغة وجزالة اللفظ، واستعمال الغريب غير المألوف والمهجور. وتكفي الإشارة إلى مؤلفه ذائع الصيت (القاموس المحيط) المعروف بقوة اللفظ، والإعجاز والإيجاز؛ أما كتابه (الجليس الأنيس) فهو في بيان تحريم الخمر وعاقبة السُّكر، وما يجرّ ذلك من ويلات على شاربيها، ومما يقول فيه " ... هذا كتاب وضعته لتعظيم الأمر في تحريم الخمرْ، وأسميته الجليسُ الأنيس في تحريم الخندريس، وبيان أسمائها، وعدد أوصافها الدخيس. ولم أُسبق إلى التأليف فيه على هذا التأسيس، وقصدت التوضيح والتأنيس (...)". هذا، وقد ساق المؤلف كتابه في فصلين: الفصل الأول: في سبب وضع الكتاب، والفصل الثاني: فيما ورد من جهة الشرع من تشديد الأمر في مذمة الخمر، والآيات والأحاديث الدالة على تحريمها، والآثار الباعثة على فتك دمها وهتك حريمها ... – بتعبير المؤلف – والأحاديث مسندة بلغ عددها أربعين حديثاً، أوردها المؤلف في الكتاب، بالإضافة إلى (أسماء الخمر) وبلغت (313) إسماً مع الشرح نذكر منها 1- الآسرة، 2- ابو المهنا، 3- الإثم، 4- الأحمر، 5- الأدماء، 6- الأذرعية ... وغيرها.
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب قام البروفسور لطفي محمود منصور إلى دراسته وضبطه وتحقيقه بالإستناد إلى ثلاثة مخطوطات. وقدم للكتاب بمقدمة عن حياته وتصانيفه ومؤلفاته وشعره، وأوضح صحة نسبة كتاب "الجليس الأنيس" للفيروزآبادي، ومنهجه في تأليفه ووظيفة الشعر في "الجليس الأنيس" ولغة الكتاب وتأريخ تأليفه للكتاب، ووصف مخطوطات الكتاب، فضلاً عن منهجه في تحقيق الكتاب.
