إن مجتمعنا الشرقي قلّما يفهم المرأة، ولا يعرف المعنى الحقيقي للحب والزواج والسعادة الأسرية؛ إن النساء والرجال الذين يعيشون في مجتمعنا هذا وكأنهم أعداء كل منهم يقف للآخر بالمرصاد، ويتصيّد الخطايا والأخطاء بينما الجاني والمجني عليه هما ضحية الجهل، والتسليم بأوهام وأباطيل توارثناها جيلاً بعد جيل ورحنا نقيم لها الطقوس، ونحرق كل من يخرج عليها، ونشيّعه إلى عالم الجحيم محمَّلاً بللعنات.
ومن المؤسف أن أغلب الأحكام على المرأة تركزت على النتائج بمعزل عن الأسباب أو الإلتزامات الفادحة أو الممنوعات التي تقيّدها، لقد بحث الرجل (كما يدّعي) عن الأخلاق في حياة مخلوقة مقيّدة لا حرية لها، ونحن نعلم أن لا أخلاق بدون حرية، ولا شخصية بدون أخلاق، ولأن الحرية هي التي تنتج الأخلاق.
والأخلاق هي التي تنتج الشخصية السوية، والشخصية هي التي تنتج الفن والفكر والإبداع، لهذا يستحيل على المرأة أن تشعر بالمشاعر الكريمة التي يشعر بها رجل لا يمنعه مانع من أن يكون شريراً.
إن القهر والإلزام الذكوري جعل حياة المرأة في مجتمعنا عبارة عن سلسلة طويلة من الممنوعات، فلم تتصف المرأة بأي أخلاق إيجابية ترضي غرور الرجل وغطرسته وتبرر فشله بحكمه الظالم على المرأة بأنها مخلوقة سلبية ولا سوية، وهو بذلك ينفّس عن بعض ضغوط القهر ومشاعر النقص التي يعاني منها، لهذا فهو يشرّع القوانين والانظمة والتفسيرات التي تضمن له بقاء نفوذه وغطرسته، وتخفف عنه عقدة النقص التي يرزح تحتها، فكيف نطالب المرأة بالسواء أو الأخلاق وهي تعيش في عالم اللاسواء أو اللاأخلاق؟.
هذا ما يطرحه هذا الكتاب من خلال مناقشته الموضوعية لواقع المرأة في عالمنا العربي.
