إن ما يشغل فصول الكتاب هو حالات الصعود والهبوط، بحسب عناصر كيمياء "الشخصية الثقافية" في ذراها وقاعها من ملامحها وتصورها، أو انعكاسها وفعاليتها. هذا ما يتمثله الفصل الثاني (محمد عبده) وجزء من الثالث (كاظم الساهر)، والسادس (مروان خوري). أما ما له عناية بمفاهيم القالب والهيكل الموسيقيين، فهو ما اشتغل عليه في الفصل الثالث، بجزئه الأول (أسماء المنور ويوسف المهنا). أما ما هو متصل بالحالة الاجتماعية، وأزمة ذاكرتها، سواء في هويتها القومية المستعصية من تكوين موقف أو حال صناعة جراء حدث سياسي موروث أو قائم، فهو معتنى في الفصل الرابع (فلة الجزائرية)، والفصل الأول (واصف جوهرية) وأما في تحولات استعصاء الهوية القومية بوعيها المفجوع إيديولوجياً فنموذجها الفصل الخامس (رجاء بلمليح).
