تقصد هذه الدراسة إلى بحث تجربة إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل الروائية (1970-1988)، التي تعدّ من أهم التجارب الروائية في الخليج العربي. بل إن إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل هو المؤسس الحقيقي لفن الرواية في الخليج العربي (الكويت)، ولولاه لظلت الرواية في الكويت غير حاضرة أو معروفة، إذ يعدّ صاحب مكان بارز في عالم الرواية العربية. ومع ذلك فهو لا يتمتع بشهرة واسعة بين الروائيين العرب، كتلك التي يتمتع بها بعض الروائيين العرب. وبشكل عام جاءت هذه الدراسة مقسمة على بابين: تناول الباب الأول: المضامين (المضمون الاجتماعي، المضمون القومي، والمضمون الوطني أو السياسي)، أما الباب الثاني فيتناول القضايا الفنية تجارب هذا الروائي.
