الشيك من أكثر الأوراق التجارية استخداماً فى العمل المصرفى, ولذا توجه البنوك العدية من المشكلات العملية عند استخدام الشيكات.
وتتعلق هذه المشكلات بسحب الشيك أى بإنشائه عندما يتخلف بيان أو أكثر من بيانه الإلزامية, وبالبعض من بياناته الاختيارية أو البيانات المحظورة تدوينها فى الشيك, كما تتعلق هذه المشكلات بتداول الشيك خاصة عمليات التظهير ومدى مسئولية البنك عنها, وبقيام البنك بتحصيل الشيكات وبالمعارضة فى الوفاء بقيمتها, وتمتد هذه المشكلات لتشمل عمليات الةفاء بقيمة الشيك ورجوع حامل الشيك على البنك المسحوب عليه.
