ما سمع الناس بكلام قط أعمّ نفعاً، ولا أصدق لفظاً، ولا أعدل وزناً، ولا أجمل مذهباً، ولا أكرم مصلباً، ولا أحسن موقعاً، ولا أسهل مخرجاً، ولا أفصح معنىً، ولا أبين في فحوى، من كلام الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم. فإننا نتمثل أقواله، ونقلد أعماله، ونهتدي بأفعاله، وننصاع إلى أوامره، ونتبع هديه.
وفي هذا الكتاب دراسة تحدث فيها الباحث عن خطبة حجة الوداع التي ألقاها سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم على المسلمين في آخر حجة له. وذلك لما في هذه الخطبة من منهج ديني واجتماعي، وسياسي وثقافي، وعلمي، وحضاري، ومنجىً في الدنيا وذخراً من الآخرة.
بدأ الباحث دراسته بإثبات نص الخطبة معتمداً في ذلك على ما أورده الجاحظ في كتابه "البيان والتبيين"، ومن ثم عني بتخريجها، متبعاً إياها بفوائد تفيد الدارس، وهي: عدة العمر التي أداها الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، والحج في السنتين: الثامنة والتاسعة للهجرة، والآيات التي نزلت على الرسول في حجة الودع، وإنزال الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم الناس منازلهم، واسم ناقته عليه الصلاة والسلام التي خطب وهو على ظهرها، وصدور النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من حجة الوداع، والفترة التي عاشها صلى الله عليه وسلم بعد حجه الأخير، وأسماء خطبة حجة الوداع. وغيرها من الموضوعات.
ومن ثم بيّن في دراسته هذه أهمية الحجة، وباعثها، ومضمونها. وحرصاً منها على إتمام هذه الدراسة فقد أتبع ذلك كله بدراسة عن خطابة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأسلوب خطبة حجة الوداع، مردفاً ذلك بإعراب كامل شامل لهذه الخطبة، وبترجمة لها باللغة الإنكليزية.
