هذا الكتاب جاء ليعالج موضوع التعليم الجامعى فى الوطن العربى ، لتعريف القارئ العربى باهمية التعليم الجامعى ورسالته فى المجتمع وما يواجهه من تحديات داخلية وخارجية لها أبلغ الأثر على دور الجامعات العربية فى إعداد الإنسان العربى للعيش فى مجتمع ما بعد الحداثة أو مجتمع المعرفة ويقدم الكتاب تصورا مقترحا لتحسين التعليم الجامعى فى الوطن العربى انطلاقا من واقع التحديات واستشراقا لمستقبل افضل . ويضم هذا الكتاب بين دفتيه سبعة فصول يناقش الفصل الأول مفهوم الجامعة والتعليم الجامعى والتطور التاريخى لنشأة الجامعات العربية . أما الفصل الثانى فيدور حول الجماعات العربية وتحديات الألفية الثالثة ثم جاء الفصل الثالث ليبين أهمية تمويل التعليم الجامعى وأخلاقياته . ويعالج الفصل الرابع اتجاهات تمويل التعليم الجامعى أما الفصل الخامس فجاء حول مصادر تمويل التعليم الجامعى وجاء الفصل السادس ليبين واقع التعليم الجامعى فى مصر . وأخيرا يأتى الفصل السابع ليضع من خلاله الكاتب خلاصة القراءات والدراسات السابقة والأدب النظرى الذى تناول التعليم الجامعى العربى فى شكل تصور مقترح يمكن الاسترشاد به لتحسين واقع الجامعات العربية والارتقاء بمستوى الأداء فيه .
