عنوان هذا الكتاب هو الإستثمار في الترخيص الإمتيازي (الفرانشايز) الذي هو موضوع حديث العصر في مجال تطور الإقتصاد العالمي الذي يشهده العالم في هذه الحقبة من التاريخ، ولقد اختار المؤلف هذا العنوان بدلاً من الترجمة الحرفية لكلمة فرانشايز (Franchise) والتي تطلق عليها منظمة الويبو (WIPO) اسم الترخيص التعاقدي الذي لا يسبغ المفهوم الصحيح لمعنى الكلمة، حيث إنَّ جميع التراخيص التجارية هي تراخيص تعاقديَّة.
ولقد بدأت الشركات العالمية تصدر منتوجاتها وتقدَّم خدماتها بطريقة جديدة، بعد إنتهاء الحرب العالمية الثانية عن طريق ترخيصات تختلف في طبيعتها عن التراخيص الإعتيادية، إذ شملت نقل وتحويل صناعة التكنولوجيا، وتخوفاً عن قرصنة المعرفة والمعلومات التي قد ينطوي عليها ذلك الإنتقال، فقد نشأت علاقة عضوية مع قوانين الملكيَّة الفكريَّة، والتي تبلورت على شكل معاهدات تديرها الويبو (WIPO)، وتُلزِم هذه المعاهدات الدول الأعضاء بالدخول في مشاورات فيما بينها بناء على طلب أيٍّ منها، إذا كان مواطن أحد الأعضاء متَّهماً بالشروع في ممارسات منافية للمنافسة المشروعة في الأراضي الخاضعة لولاية عضو آخر.
وترى الأسواق العربية غزواً عنيفاً من قبل الشركات العالمية المتخصصة في هذا القطاع من الإقتصاد، ولا عجب في ذلك فالمنطقة العربية تفتقر إلى الصناعات التكنولوجيَّة التي اتَّصفت بها دول نمور شرق آسيا، وبنفس الوقت فإنَّها تشكل سوقاً إستهلاكيةً مهمة.
ومن هذا الصعيد ومن طبيعة الترخيص الإمتيازي (التي تتطلَّب طرفاً يمثل المُرخَّص له)، فقد ألَّف المؤلف هذا الكتاب الذي يشرح النواحي القانونيَّة والعمليَّة في عشرة فصول، ستة فصول منها تطرح النواحي القانونيَّة وتعالج الفصول الأخرى النواحي العمليّة كالإستشارات المهنيَّة والتمويل والمحاسبة والقواعد وطرق تقييم الجهاز الإمتيازي.
