وفي هذا العمل يقف الراوي أمام مجتمع بدائي، تؤول فيه الأحداث، وتتصرف الشخصيات تبعاً لوحي إلهي أو جوهر متعال أو وفقاً لتقاليد وأعراف موروثة، فعندما يولد طفل بطريقة مختلفة عن الآخرين، فهذا يعني أنه ولي، أو ساحر. "كان يعاند قدر الخروج إلى الواقع، فانتزعته القابلة، والعرق يتصبب من جبينها وأنفها، استعانت بضلفة الباب وهي تسحبه، ثم دلقت عينين مذعورتين لتلك الولادة الغريبة التي خرجت فيها القدمان قبل الرأس. ومنذ ذلك اليوم، سُمّيت المرأة "بأم الساحر".
فعاش الطفل وحيداً منبوذاً بين الناس فاختار أن يعيش بعيداً، وصعد إلى الجبل ليبلغ تلك "الغيبة" التي تؤهله لفعل المعجزات كأولياء الله وأقنع نفسه بذلك.
محطات متعددة، وأحداث غرائبية، تنتظرنا لنتعرف معاً إلى ما آلت إليه أوضاع الناس وأذهانهم في جميع مناحي الحياة، وبتعدد مجالات الحياة وتنوعها المطرد يتعرّى الكاتب تلك البنى الذهنية التي أغلقت على نفسها الأبواب بحكم إرادتها وعاشت بعيدة عن حضارة الآخرين، فكان هذا العمل محاولة يعيد كاتبها صياغة العالم من حولنا لفهمه وقراءته فحسب، بعيداً عن تغييره.
"درب المسحورة" رواية تكشف عن صفحات من تاريخ مضى ولكن إرهاصاته ما تزال تكبّل أجياله اللاحقة ... جدير بالقراءة.
