رغم أن أشعار ولافتات الشاعر العربي الكبير أحمد مطر منتشرة ومتداولة في أنحاء كثيرة، إلا أن شخصيته ما تزال غارقة في الغموض، حتى إن الكثيرين ما يزالون يصرون على الاعتقاد بأن أحمد مطر هو مجرد اسم وهمي أو أنه الاسم الحركي لشاعر لا يجرؤ على الإفصاح عن شخصيته.. ولا عجب في ذلك المنفى يجعل في الإنسان غربة أبدية تسكن في داخله وتلازمه أينما ذهب، وهذا هو الشاعر العربي الشهير -المعرف المجهول- أحمد مطر.
ومن هنا، فإن هذا الكتاب يأتي في سياق محاولة جديدة وبسيطة لدراسة شخصية الشاعر أحمد مطر الذي لم يعد ثمة ناقد يشكك في أنه صاحب مدرسة شعرية جديدة في الشعر العربي الحديث هي مدرسة شعر اللافتات.
وفي الدراسة الواردة في مستهل هذا الكتاب تم تناول سيرة حياة هذا الشاعر وأبرز السمات الأدبية لأعماله الشعرية والتي أسماها: اللافتات، وهذه الدراسة مجرد محاولة للكشف عن شخصية الشاعر "أحمد مطر" الذي يعيش حالياً في منفاه في بريطانيا منذ سنوات طويلة، وهو شاعر استحق بكل جدارة أن يحمل لقب "شاعر المنفى"، وفي سياق هذه الدراسة استعراض سريع لأبرز محطات حياته مما توافر من مصادر عن ذلك، وهي قليلة جداً وتكاد تكون معدومة.
ويتضمن هذا الكتاب مجموعة من أحدث وآخر ما كتب أحمد مطر عن قصائد ولافتات، تتناول الأحداث الساخنة التي يمر بها العالم، لا سيما أحداث واشنطن ونيويورك في الحادي عشر من أيلول عام 2001 وما رافقها من انعكاسات لاحقة، واتهامات تكال للعرب بأنهم "إرهابيون"!!
وهذه القصائد الواردة في هذا الكتاب والتي كتبها الشاعر في أواخر عام 2001 ومطلع عام 2002 إضافة إلى قصائد أخرى مختارة، إنما هي قصائد غير منشورة للشاعر أحمد مطر إلا في صحف يومية محدودة في كل من الكويت وقطر، ولم يسبق للشاعر أن نشرها في مجموعات شعرية أو في أمسيات أو غير ذلك.
لقد أمضى أحمد مطر في منفاه سنوات طويلة، وربما سيمضي فيه أكثر مما قد أمضى، إلا أنه يحمل وطنه في قلبه، ويجعل من قصائده جواز سفره الذي يتجول به ليس فقط في كل أقطار العالم العربي وإنما في كل قلوب العرب.. فيغيب أحمد مطر وتحضر لافتاته على الدوام.
