يدور موضوع الكتاب حول مدى مساهمة تكنولوجيا المعلومات في تحسين الأداء المؤسسي. وقد جاءت هذه الدراسة لقياس وتحديد دور تكنولوجيا المعلومات في تحسين فاعلية الأداء في مؤسسة المناطق الحرة الأردنية، حيث تعد هذه المؤسسة التي تأسست في عام 1976م بقصد تشجيع الإستثمار في تكنولوجيا المعلومات اعتباراً من عام 1996م لغايات تحسين الأداء المؤسسي لتحقيق أهدافها بفاعلية، وتسعى باستمرار لتطوير تكنولوجيا المعلومات فيها.
تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى الوقوف على واقع تكنولوجيا المعلومات المستخدمة في مؤسسة المناطق الحرة، والتغير فيها خلال السنوات 1996-2005. وتحليل إثر تكنولوجيا المعلومات على فاعلية أداء مؤسسة المناطق الحرة المتمثل بتحقيق أهداف المؤسسة وتحسين الحصول على الموارد وقياس أثرها في زيادة قدرة المؤسسة على جذب الإستثمار. ومن ثم التعرف على المعوقات التي تحول دون أن تأخذ تكنولوجيا المعلومات دورها في تحسين أداء المؤسسة. وأخيراً تقديم الباحث لتوصيات ومقترحات تتعلق بالإستخدام الأفضل لتكنولوجيا المعلومات والتي تساعد الإدارة العليا في المؤسسة في تطوير العمل الإداري وتحسين الأداء.
تأتي أهمية هذه الدراسة من كونها الأولى التي أجريت على مؤسسة المناطق الحرة الأردنية في هذا المجال والتي يمكن لها أن تؤسس لدراسات مستقبلية عن دور تكنولوجيا المعلومات في تحسين الأداء المؤسسي، باستخدام مؤشرات أخرى جديدة على مؤشرات هذه الدراسة يمكن أن تفيد مؤسسات أخرى سواء في القطاع العام أو الخاص ...
