يتوجه هذا الكتاب لطلبة الجامعات والمعاهد، حيث اختار المؤلف فيه أسلوباً واضحاً ومبسطاً في طرح مادته العلمية. يبدأ الكتاب في الفصل الأول منه بعرض المحددات وخواصها وحساب قيمتها، بينما في الفصل الثاني قدمت المصفوفات وأنواعها، وتم دراسة معكوس ومحددة المصفوفة، والمصفوفة المتعامدة، والمعادلة المميزة -القيم والمتجات الذاتية.
الفصل الثالث خصص لتعريف المتتاليات اللانهائية، ومناقشة تقارب أو تباعد المتتاليات، كما تمت دراسة المتسلسلات اللانهائية والهندسية، واختبار المتسلسلات، ومتسلسلات القوى. أما الفصل الرابع فقد تناول دراسة المعادلات التفاضلية العادية وطرق حلها، والمعادلات الخطية بمعاملات ثابتة، وحل المعادلات غير المتجانسة.
وقد آثر المؤلف توظيف الفصلين الخامس والسادس لدراسة المعادلات التفاضلية الجزئية، وحل معادلة الموجه والسريان الحراري في بعد واحد، ومعادلة بيسل، وعديد حدود ليجندر، والتحويلات التكاملية. ومن خلال عرض كافة الفصول تم إدراج جملة من الأمثلة والتطبيقات الرياضية والفيزيائية.
