فواز طرابلسي (1941- ) أستاذ جامعي ومؤرخ لبناني. كان مع أحمد بيضون ووضاح شرارة من أبرز قيادي حركة لبنان الاشتراكي التي اندمجت سنة 1970 مع منظمة الاشتراكيين اللبنانيين لتشكل منظمة العمل الشيوعي في لبنان. أصبح طرابلسي نائبا للأمين العام للمنظمة ثم أحد أبرز وجوه الحركة الوطنية اللبنانية. غادر المنظمة سنة 1984 وذهب إلى باريس لمواصلة دراسته. يحمل دكتوراه في التاريخ من جامعة باريس. شغل منصب رئيس تحرير جريدة الحرية ومجلة بيروت المساء.

إضاءاتٌ متعدِّدة عن التجربة الحياتية الإنسانية، وكيف يتمُّ إنتاجُ ثقافةِ تفسَّر المعيشَ اليومي، وتؤوِّلهُ بتقنياتِ بسيطة، مثل المثل والأغنية والرقص.
يعالجُها الكاتب برشاقة قلمٍ واعٍ، مدركٍ لمكوِّنات مختلف الطبات الإجتماعية، رافضٍ لجعلِ الثقافة الشعبية في منزلةِ أقلّ من الثقافة العَالِمة، ورَّبما كانت الأولى مرآةً حقيقية لحياة الشعب وتكثيفاً لحكمته وهو ما تعكسه مواضيع الكتاب وتنوُّعها: المرأة وإقتصاد الحرير، رقصة الدبكة، الحكم والأمثال الشعبية، عيد البربارة والصراع الطبقي، أم كلثوم والذكرى.
"تأمُّلات في الحياة وأفكار وأمثولات وحكم صادرة عن التجربة الجمعية عبر الأجيال"، هكذا يصف طرابلسي كتابه هذا، وأنَّ أعماله في هذا المجال "أقرب إلى لفتات نظر وتشجيع على البحث والكتابة".
