نقصد بالمصطلحات العلمية، تلك المصطلحات التي تخص فروع العلوم، من فيزياء، وكيمياء، وأحياء، ولذلك جاء هذا المعجم الذي بين يديك عزيزي القارئ ليضع أمامك مجموعة شاملة من المصطلحات التي تخدم هذه العلوم.
وقد كان هذا المعجم مكملاً لمجموعة معاجم متخصصة قامت دار أسامة للنشر بإصدارها هذا العام، كالمعجم الطبي، والسياسي، والعسكري، ومعجم الأمراض، والكمبيوتر والإنترنت، والإعلامي والتاريخي، والجغرافي، فهو إذن ضمن سلسلة من المعاجم المتنوعة، في جميع المجالات الثقافية والعلمية.
وقد حرصنا في هذا المعجم أن يكون عملنا هذا جامعاً لكل المصطلحات العلمية التي تضمنتها كتب الفيزياء والكيمياء والأحياء، كما كان حرصنا منصباً على ألا تترك شاردة أو واردة فيها خدمة علمية تصب في دقة هذا المعجم وكماله.
وقد قسمنا هذا المعجم إلى ثلاثة أقسام: جاء القسم الأول منه لمصطلحات الكيمياء، أما القسم الثاني: فجاء لمصطلحات الفيزياء، أما القسم الثالث: فهو لمصطلحات الأحياء، وقد رتبنا هذه المصطلحات في الأقسام أو الفروع الثلاثة حسب الحروف الأبجدية العربية (الألفباء).
وكان هدفنا من هذا الترتيب التسهيل على كل الراغبين في الإطلاع على ما جاء في المعجم، وكل حسب صفحته ورقمها.
