تضمنت هذه الدراسة فصلين: احتوى الفصل الأول رأيا نقدياً عن الآلية التي تحكمت بالقراءة التي لاحقت التوراة اعتماد على مفهوم إجرائي جديد عن التناص الذي اتضح كثيراً مع نظريات النص والشعرية المعاصرة.
وتضمن كشفاً عن الأساطير التي كان لها تأثير كبير على التوراة. واعتمدنا في هذا الفصل على الأساطير السومرية والتي تومئ لحضارة أسبق بكثير جداً عن التوراة والأساطير التي أشرنا لها هي من أهم الأساطير السومرية تداولاً في الدراسات الخاصة بالديانات القديمة.
أو الخطابات الأسطورية والأساطير هي: أيميش وانتين "قابيل وهابيل" ولهار فراشنان أو انكمدو ودموزي. وكذلك الأسطورة المشهورة "انكي وننخرساك" ونصوص سومرية.
أما الفصل الثاني فقد اهتم بدراسة ومناقشة مجموعة من الأساطير العراقية والكنعانية والمصرية وعلاقة النصوص التوراتية بها. والأساطير هي: الإله تموز والتنين/ هيكل الرب/ ولادة البطل المنقذ/ المعذب البابلي/ عشتار/ جلجامش/ نشيد إخناتون/ الزواج المقدس/ ملحمة الخليقة البابلية/ والسبت العراقي القديم.
