إن الله عز وجل بعث رسوله الكريم، ليصنع به أمه ربانية متميزة سماها الله (أمة وسطا)، وهي أمة الصراط المستقيم، صراط التوازن والتكامل بين المادة والروح، بين الدنيا والآخرة، بين العقل والوحي، بين الفردية والجماعية، بين الإبداع المادي والالتزام الإيماني، فقامت على أساس هذه التعاليم حضارة عالمية فذة، جمعت الربانية والإنسانية، بين العلم والإيمان وبين الرقي والأخلاق، هي الحضارة الإسلامية التي سادت العالم قروناً، واقتبست من حضارات الأقدمين، وهذبتها، وأضافت إليها، وابتكرت الجديد المفيد في علوم الدين ومعارف الدنيا. ومن هذا الكتاب يدوّن د.يوسف القرضاوي ما ينير ذهن القارئ في هذا المجال حيث يبحث في السنة بوصفها مصدراً للمعرفة والحضارة. وقد قسم هذا البحث لثلاثة أقسام. القسم الأول: من الجانب التشريعي في السنة، وبيان ما كان منها للتشريع، وما ليس للتشريع، وما كان للتشريع العام، وللتشريع الخاص، أو التشريع الدائم وللتشريع العارض، حيث حاول الوقوف هنا الموقف الوسط بين الغلاة والمفرطين. القسم الثاني: عن السنة باعتبارها مصدراً للمعرفة، سواء أكانت معرفة دينية، تتعلق بالغيبيات التي مصدرها الوحيد: الوحي، مما يتعلق بالله وملائكته وكتبه ورسله واليوم الآخر، الجنة والنار، والساعة واشراطها، وأحداث آخر الزمان، مع التركيز على المبشرات. والقسم الثالث: عن السنة باعتبارها مصدراً للحضارة من خلال السنة والفقه والحضاري، والسنة والسلوك الحضاري.
