بول فندلي، ومن موقعه السياسي الهام، كممثل لولاية البنتوي في الكونغرس الأميركي لمدة اثنتين وعشرين سنة، ومن مركز اطلاعه على خفايا السياسة الأميركية، وما وراء كواليها، يجرؤ على الكلام في هذا الكتاب الذي يتحدث فيه عن اللوبي اليهودي الذي يمثل حاكماً فعلياً للولايات المتحدة الأميركية، وعن الشعب والمؤسسات والتي في قراراتها تحاول الوقوف في مواجهة هذا اللوبي وتطلعاته.
لذا، فالكتاب بمحتواه يمثل اقتراباً من المعاناة العربية وذلك من خلال السياسة الدولية التي يحكمها حكام صهيون من خلال هذا اللوبي الذي يحكم بأسره، لذا فالكتاب ومنذ ظهوره أول مرة في يونيو (حزيران) 1985 لقي قبولاً عظيماً. فبالرغم من قيام محاولات غير رسمية وفعالة في الأشهر الأولى لتضييق نطاق انتشاره، فإنه أخذ مكانه بين الكتب الأكثر مبيعاً. إذ بقي طوال تسعة أسابيع في قائمة الكتب الأكثر مبيعاً والتي تصدرها جريدة "واشنطن بوست" لقد أماط فندلي في كتابه هذا اللثام عن سبب مواقف أميركا الرسمية غير المتوازنة في الشرق الأوسط، كما وناقش عشرين مثلاُ من الأمثلة البارزة على سلوك إيبالا (اللجنة الأميركية الإسرائيلية للشؤون العامة) ونتائج كل هذا على السياسة والمناقشة العامتين. لقد جاء وثق المؤلف معلوماته بالبيانات الملاحظات الصادرة في عدد من الشخصيات الكبيرة مثل وليم فولبرايت، وجورج بول وبرجنسكي، وجيسي جاكسون وكثيرين غيرهم.
