قيّض الله تعالى لرسوله ومصطفاه أصحاباً مؤمنين هادين مهديين، لا ضالين ولا مضلين، فاستجابوا لدعوته، وأعانوه على أداء رسالته، وجعلوا أنفسهم وأموالهم في خدمته، ولم يألوا جهداً في دعمه ونصرته، وكانوا مفاتيح لكل خير، مغاليق لكل شرّ. هذا ولا ينكر فضل صحابة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وما بذلوا من الأنفس والأموال حتى تعلو كلمة "لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله" إلا غافل عما جاء في تنزيل الله العزيز الحكيم. وإذا كان الله، جلّ في علاه، عرف قدرهم، وشكر سعيهم، فما أظلم من جحدهم حقهم، وأنكر فضلهم، ولم يتأسًّ بهم، ويقدرهم حق قدرهم! إنهم مشاعل الهدى والرشاد، الذين تقلبوا في الأمصار والبلاد، واستأصلوا جذور الفساد، ولقد قال عنهم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "خير القرون قرني"، إنه قرن الذين صدقوا برسالته، وآمنوا بدعوته، وبذلوا الأنفس والأموال لنصرته، ولقد آووه إذ أخرجه الناس، ونصروه إذ خذله الأهل وذوو القرابة. وقد زرعوا في نفوس الناس الفضائل، وحذروهم مغبة الانغماس في الرذائل، ناشرين مكارم الأخلاق، وباثين بين الجميع ما نهلوا من العلم الذي علمه رب العزة لرسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم آمرين بالمعروف وناهين عن المنكر، معتصمين بحبل الله المتين فكان من حقهم التأسّي بهم ومتابعة سيرهم للسير على نهجهم. من هنا كان لا بد من هذا الكتاب الذي جمع بين طياته سير صحابة رسول الله التي عرض المؤلف من خلالها إلى سيرة كل صحابي من هؤلاء الصحابة من حين مولده إلى وفاته بما في ذلك أخلاقه وصفاته ومنهجه في تطبيق مبادئ الإسلام وما تميز به عن غيره من الصحابة وأهم الوقائع التي حدثت في حياته والبصمات التي شكلت بالنسبة له منعطفاً هاماً في حياته.
