وفي هذا الكتاب قصص هؤلاء الخلفاء والتي جاءت بأسلوب حمل من المشاعر الغامر، ومن الصدق الكثير بل الصدق كله، أسلوب ابتعد فيه المؤلف عن تكديس المعلومات إلى جلاء الحقائق، باستحضار الوقائع حية، ليسبغ على روعة المضمون روعة السبك الأدبي الذي لم يغير من الحقيقة شيء بل هو أعطى صورة واضحة عن سياسة هؤلاء الخلفاء اتجاه شعبهم وقبلاً اتجاه نفسهم المتأدبة بأدب الإسلام.
إنه قطعة رائعة من أدب السيرة الذاتية. فعدا كون الخلفاء "الخمسة" تمتلئ حياتهم بالعبر والحكم، فقد أخذ الكاتب بيدك، عبر أسلوبه الفذّ، ليدلك على مكامن الروعة في حياة هؤلاء "الخمسة" الكبار الذين فتحوا أمام الإسلام، بهديٍ من الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، آفاقاً رحبة أقلٌّ ما فيها عدل وحق وإيمان.
وأنت إذ تنتقل بين روضاته الزاهية الزاهرة، لا تكاد تبهرك صور ومشاهد، حتى يحملك الكاتب إلى أجواء أبدع وأروع فيها، من الصور والمشاهد يأخذ منك اللبَّ ويأسر الروح.
