لا يختلف اثنان على أن علوم البلاغة هي مستودع سر العلوم العربية، ففيها براعة الأسلوب، وجمال البيان، والوقوف على حسن الصور، وتذوق جزالة اللفظ وصواب المعنى وغير ذلك كثير. من هنا كان لا بد من دراسة قواعد علوم البلاغة والإلمام بمغازيها لفرس ملكة البلاغة لدى الدارس والقارئ، وطبعهم على الذوق العربي في معالجة النص الأدبي، وتبصرتهم بأسرار الكلام البليغ، وما فيه من ضروب الحسن، وبدائع البيان.
وتحقيقاً لهذا الغرض، جمع مؤلف الكتاب بين طرق المتقدمين من سعة الشرح والإيضاح، والإعتماد على الأمثلة والشواهد، حتى تسبين للقارئ خصائص البلاغة، وطريق المتأخرين من حسن الترتيب والتبويب، وجمع ما تفرق من قواعد هذه الفنون ليكون أنجح في الدرس وأقرب إلى التناول.
وبناءاً على ما تقدم تم تقسيم الدراسة إلى مقدمة تناولت علوم البلاغة ووحدتها يلي ذلك أربعة أقسام جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: القسم الأول (الفصاحة والبلاغة) تعريفها وعناصرها، القسم الثاني (علم البيان) ويضم مباحث في: التشبيه، الحقيقة، والمجاز، الإستعارة، الكناية. القسم الثالث (علم المعاني) ويضم مباحث في: الخبر، الإنشاء، النهي، الإستفهام، التمني، النداء، الجملة البلاغية، القصر في بلاغة الكلام، الفصل والوصل، الإيجار والإطناب والمساواة مفهومها وأنواعها وأقسامها. القسم الرابع (علم البديع) ويضم مباحث في: 1- المحسنات البديعية المعنوية (المطابقة، المقابلة، المبالغة، التفسير) وغيرها، 2- المحسنات البديعية اللفظية (الجناس، السجع، الموازنة، التطريز، لزوم ما لا يلزم) وغيرها... وأخيراً خاتمة وخلاصات.
كتاب يبحث في أساس علم البلاغة وأصوله عظيم الفحوى من أركان فن الأدب بل هو أساسه ذكر فيه مصنفه المجازات اللغوية والمزايا الأدبية وتعبيرات البلغاء.
