إن سبل الضلال كثيرة، والداعين إليها بأساليب متنوعة لا يحصون. والمسكرات والمخدرات من أهم المعادل التي يتخذها دعاة الضلال لهدم المجتمعات الإسلامية، لأنها من الخبائث التي تسبب مشاكل عظيمة في معظم بلاد العالم، وتكلف المجتمعات خسائر جسيمة، أولها الإنسان نفسه، بل إن الخمر أم الخبائث. لقد انتشر هذا الوباء في المجتمعات الإسلامية وبات يهددها من جذورها، إن استمر الأمر على هذه الشاكلة من هنا رأى المؤلف ضرورة البحث في هذا الموضوع، وكانت طريقته الأخذ بالأحكام الفقهية مع أدلتها من الكتب المعتمدة لدى كل مذهب, بل من أمهات الكتب، ليبحث، من ثم، عن أدلة السنة في كتب السنة وشروحها، مثبتاً ألفاظ الأحاديث مع عزوها إلى مخرجيها، ليلخص بعد ذلك ما ذكره المختصون في علم الحديث عن سند الحديث ومتنه.
وقد بذل الباحث جهده في تتبع كل دليل لكل مذهب، مرتباً الأدلة: أدلة الكتاب أولاً ثم السنة ثم الأدلة الاجتهادية من المصادر التبعية. وهكذا قام بعرض وجهة نظر كل طائفة من المجتهدين بأمانة، مقارناً بين الأدلة مستنيراً برأي بعض المحققين. إلى جانب ذلك عرض الباحث ما صدر عن المختصين في الطب والنفس والكيمياء والصيدلة والاجتماع والقضاء في مؤتمر مكافحة المخدرات والمسكرات الذي عقد في المدينة المنورة عام 1401هـ. عرض الباحث ذلك ملخصاً ومرتباً ليكتمل بحثه هذا من كل الجوانب الدينية والعلمية والنفسية والاجتماعية والقضائية.
