يعالج هذا الكتاب حرب العصابات السوفييتية وراء خطوط الألمان في الحرب العالمية الثانية. ويستشهد المؤلفان في عرضهما لمهمات الأنصار بالأوامر والوثائق التي صدرت عن القيادة العامة لقوات الأنصار في روسيا. ويعدد أن المهام التي قاموا بها لصالح الجيش الأحمر، ويحللانها.. وفي الشق الثاني من الكتاب عرض مشوق وتاريخي لكل الأوامر والمهمات الصادرة عن قيادات القوات الألمانية المضادة للعصابات الروسية.
ولم يقتصر الكاتبان ف يبحثهما على الأنصار السوفييت فقط، بل تعدياه أحياناً إلى المقاومة السرية الفرنسية، وإلى حركات عصابات أخرى جرت في الحرب العالمية الثانية، إلا أن تعميقهما للموضوع كان خاص بالأنصار السوفييت، وكيف جابه الألمان عملهم فرغم ضخامة التهم الحربية، وذكاء قياداتهم العسكرية ونشاطها، فإن عملية مقاومتهم للأنصار لم تؤد إلى أية نتيجة، ولم تصل إلا إلى القمع والإرهاب والإعدام. ولقد خصص الألمان ما لا يقل عن (15) فرقة لتدعيم الأمن على خطوط مواصلاتهم، لأن الأنصار كانوا يضايقونهم عليها.
ولهذا الكتاب أهمية أكيدة لأنه حصيلة وثائق تاريخية، وأحداث وقعت بالفعل فوق أرض الاتحاد السوفييتي الشاسعة.
