التواصلية: "هي ذلك النشاط الفني، الذي يقوم به الممثل المسرحي. بصورة قصدية، ويهدف به متلق مباشر، ضمن دورة كلامية أو اشارية، بواسطة اللغة المنطوقة والإيماءات، والمحاكاة الجسدية، عبر الفضاء المشترك بين الطرفين. من أجل غايات تأثيرية، في إطار نفسي واجتماعي وثقافي معين".
انطلاقاً من هذا المعنى يضع الدكتور علي الحمداني بحثاً في "التواصلية في أداء الممثل المسرحي" يدرس من خلاله: تواصلية الاداء التمثيلي لدى الممثل المسرحي العراقي، واشتغاله ضمن منظومة العرض المسرحي. أما الجانب الإجرائي في البحث فتم عن طريق اختيار عيِّنة تألفت من عروض مسرحية بعينها ودراستها وهي: 1- عرض مسرحية في أعالي الحب، 2- عرض مسرحية الصخرة، 3- عرض مسرحية جيل رابع، 4- عرض مسرحية العلبة الحجرية، 5- عرض مسرحية كاروك، 6- عرض مسرحية تحولات عازف الناي. وهي بمجموعها مسرحيات عرضت على المسرح في العراق وبأداء ممثلين عراقيين. حاول المؤلف من خلال دراستها معرفة الى أي حد يمكن للممثل أن يتواصل إيجابياً مع الشخصية المسرحية، ومن ثم تحقيق التواصل مع الممثل الآخر، وعناصر العرض، باتجاه تواصلية قصدية مع المتلقي، وعبر مفردات العرض المسرحي القائم.
