"صوفية الفكر الفلسفي" كتاب يتضمن دراسة تحليلية نقدية لمفاهيم ومصطلحات الفلسفة عامة والفلسفة الألمانية بشكل خاص. ويثير عنوان الكتاب الكثير من التساؤلات وخاصة كلمة "صوفية" وما يراد بها في هذه الدراسة. إن تعبير صوفية الفكر الفلسفي يعني أن الفكر يعقل ذاته، أي أن الفكر يجعل من نفسه موضوعاً لنفسه، وعلى هذا الأساس ليس الفيلسوف من يفكر، بل أن الفكر يعقل نفسه في عقل المنكر، ولكي يكون الأمر واضحاً، يجب فهم أن المذهب الصوفي الذي منذ بواكيره الأولى وخاصة في الفلسفة الأفلاطونية، حتى اليوم، يحاول أن يكشف عن ماهية الله ويفهم الله جلّ جلاله على أنه "معرفة وعقل". والسؤال الذي يطرح نفسه هنا: ما هو العقل وما هي المعرفة من وجهة نظر الفلسفة النظرية الخالصة؟ إن الإجابة على هذا السؤال تمثل غاية البحث، ذلك لأن العقل لا يظهر من البداية كروح واعية بذاتها، وإنما يتجلى في بداية الأمر "كوعي". إن حركة التطور الذاتية للوعي هي التي تجعل منه في نهاية المطاف عقلاً. وإلى هذا فإن والفلسفة لاهوت عقلي، ديانة تقوم على مبادئ عقلية، بمعنى أن إلهها العقل، أو كما قال شيلنغ "أساطير عقلية". إذا لم تكن الفلسفة علماً-فما هي إذن؟ وما هي بالخصوص طبيعة الفلسفة التي يختص بها هذا البحث؟ ما الذي تريد أن تصل إليه الفلسفة وما الذي تريد بيانه وإنشاءه؟ لقد أرادت الفلسفة الألمانية أن تنشئ إلهها الخاص، إلهاً ليس بالمعنى اليوناني، ولا بالمعنى المسيحي، إلهاً ألمانياً، إلهاً نقياً، مطلقاً، لا يعرف التناقض ولا الاختلاف.
هذا بصورة عامة طبيعة الفلسفة التي اختصّ بها هذا البحث، وعن عمله هذا يقول المؤلف بأن عمله هذا هو تجربة حياتية فكرية وسياسية، دعته في نهاية المطاف إلى أن يتأمل المنابع الفكرية للثقافة الغربية والكشف عن معاني منطقها الباطن، ولهذا لم يجد تفسيراً عقلياً مقبولاً لا يعكس حقيقة هذا الفكر غير النزعة الصوفية، والفكر الاجتماعي والسياسي هو الآخر انعكاس فكري لواقع هذه المجتمعات. لهذا إن المجتمع الذي يريد أن يتحرر عليه أن ينتج قيمه الخاصة به، ولن يشفع له في ذلك لا دين ولا قومية إذا أخفق في هذا الميدان.
