هدف هذا الكتاب هو محاولة إيجاد التكامل بين النظرية والتطبيق العملي في مختلف مناحي الحياة عامة، وبخاصة المناحي التربوية. وقد تكون هذا المُؤَلف من سبعة فصول: تناول الفصل الأول الذي حمل عنوان مقدمة إلى دراسة التفكير الإبداعي، فيما تناول الفصل الثاني برامج تعليم التفكير، أمّا الإبداع الجاد فقد حفل به الفصل الثالث. فيما تناول الفصل الرابع استراتيجيات الإبداع الجاد. أمّا قبعات التفكير الست فقد تم تناولها في الفصل الخامس، ولما كان أحد أهداف هذا المُؤَلف العمل على إيجاد التكامل المعرفي بين الطرح النظري والطرح التطبيقي فقد تضمن الفصل السادس الذي عُنوِن بتطبيقات تربوية بتطبيقات عملية في مختلف مناحي \ مناشط الحياة لتجسد نماذج تطبيقية في تعليم وتعلم التفكير من وجهة نظر ديبونو، وحتى تكتمل عناصر المعرفة لدى المتعلم فقد تم جاء الفصل السابع والذي عالج موضوع قياس الإبداع الجاد في محاولة من المؤلف لتقديم ما هو متوافر عالمياً من مقاييس تقيس مهارات الإبداع الجاد، مبرزاً النقص الكبير في هذا المجال الحساس من جوانب الإبداع الجاد.
