لقد شهد مطلع الألفية الثالثة تغيرات متسارعة في شتى مناحي الحياة السياسية والإقتصادية والإجتماعية، ولم يكن المجال التربوي بمنأى عن هذه التغيرات، إذ ألقت المنجزات المعرفية بظلالها على أركانه المختلفة بدءاً بالمنهاج والمعلم والبيئة الصفية مروراً بالإستراتيجيات التعليمية –التعليمية وإنتهاء باستراتيجيات التقويم.
ونحن في العالم العربي مسنا هذا التطور في مدارسنا وجامعاتنا، فجاء هذا المؤلف والذي حمل عنوان "علم النفس التربوي في محاولة من المؤلفين لمسايرة كل جديد ونافع في هذا الميدان، حيث تكون من ثمانية فصةل على النحو الآتي:
الفصل الأول عنون بمدخل إلى علم النفس التربوي.
وإحتلت جوانب التطور الإنساني الفصل الثاني.
فيما حمل الفصل الثالث عنوان نظريات التعلم، وتضمن نظرية الإختيار والربط، والإشراط الكلاسيكي، والإشراط الإجرائي.
أما الفصل الرابع فقد عالج دافعية التعلم من حيث مفهوم الدافعية، والأسباب الداخلية والخارجية للدافعية، ونظريات تفسير الدافعية.
وإحتلت دراسة الفروقات الفردية الفصل الخامس، حيث إشتمل على مفهوم الفروق الفردية، ومحاولات مبكرة لدراسة وقياس الذكاء.
أما الفصل السادس فقد عنون بالعمليات المعرفية المعقدة، وتضمن أهمية الفهم، وتعليم المفهوم وتعلمه، وتعريف مميزات المفهوم.
وحظيت إدارة البيئة الصفية بالفصل السابع، حيث تضمن هذا الفصل تعريف الإدارة الصفية، وكيف يقوم المعلمون الفاعلون بإدارة طلبتهم.
أما الفصل الثامن فعنون بالتقييم التربوي والإختبارات، حيث إشتمل على مفهوم القياس والتقويم، وطبيعة عملية التقويم.
