إن المرأة هي نصف الجنس البشري، بل سيأتي زمان تكون فيه المرأة أضعاف أضعاف الذكور، فقد روى أحمد في "مسنده" [120/3] مرفوعاً: "لا تقوم الساعة حتى تكون في الخمسين امرأة القيّم الواحد ويكثر النساء".
والمرأة هي التي ينعتونها بالجنس اللطيف، نظراً لرقّتها ونضارتها وحنوّها ومحبتها وعطفها ومؤاساتها، هي سلطانة القلوب التي لا يمكن لأحد أن يعارض أحكامها أو ينقض إبرامها، فإن كان في العيش لذة، أو مرارة فمنها، وبسببها يقتحم الرجال الأخطار، ويشنون الغارات، ويتهافتون على المهالك رغبة في مسرّتها والعمل على بهجتها والفوز برضاها.
لذلك كانت المرأة عروة الصلة بين الأسر، ومفصل أعضاء الوطن، ومجرى الدم في جسم الأمة الذي يبعث فيها روح الحياة وقوة النشاط وهي التي أودعها الله تعالى كل معاني السحر الخلاب، فبجمالها وظرفها ووداعتها الآسرة أصبحت السيدة المسيطرة المالكة للقلوب؛ هي الصديقة الصدوقة، وشريكة الرجل في حياته وفي سرّائه وضرائه، فإذا ما سكن إليها بعد الفراغ من عمله وهو مثقل بأعباء الحياة وأكدارها، أحاطته بسياج من العطف والمودة، وافترّ ثغرها له عن إبتسامة عذبة، إثر نظرة ساحرة تنفذ إلى مستقر الوجدان من نفسه فتنسيه ما ألمَّ به من الهموم والآلام، ومن يقدر على مواساة الرجل إذا فاضت به شجونه سوى المرأة؟...
هذا بعض ما قيل في الحقوق الزوجية، ولكن مضمون هذا الكتاب هو فيما يحبه الرجال في النساء، وقد عرض بعضها لكي لا يطول الشرح، وملخص القول: إن المرأة إنسان يحب ويكره، وهي تشاطر الرجل في كثير من الصفات التي يحبها ويكرهها، فلذلك يجب أن نحترم مشاعرها ونلبي رغباتها ونصدق معها ونتطيب ونظهر أمامها بالمظهر الجميل كما نحب أن نراها أمامنا بمظهرها الجميل.
