"انشغل الصوفية بفكرة الأنا في حديثهم عن الغيبة والشهود والفناء والبقاء، والانفصال والاتصال. فالأنا الشعرية لديهم تنطوي على بعد معرفي، يحمل البذور الوجدانية الأولى لفلسفة الشاعر الصوفي، التي تعد الذات أرضها الخصبة الصالحة لنمو هذه المعارف، عبر علاقة الذات بالموضوع، الأنا والوجود بمعنييه الخاص (الوجود الذاتي) والعام (الوجود المطلق). لكن الملمح الفارق في النص الشعري عند ابن الفارض هو التعامل المختلف مع هذه المفردات السابقة، مثل الفناء - الاتحاد - الغيبة - الحضور - الانفصال - الاتصال، بعيداً عن كونها ثنائيات فلسفية متقابلة أو متعارضة. فقد استخدمها ابن الفارض كرؤى شعرية خاصة سعت الأنا من خلالها الى تحويل الفكري الخالص الى فني في تأكيد خصوصية وعي الأنا بنفسها في النص الشعري".
