طبعة جديدة منقحة ومزيدة تصدرها دار الرشاد لهذا الكتاب الذى يتناول النمو العقلى المعرفى للطفل فى ضوء نظرية عالم النفس السويسرى جان بياجيه ويتألف من ثمانية فصول يتناول المؤلف فيها هذه النظرية بالدراسة والتحليل ويوضح تطور التفكير لدى الطفل من خلال أربع مراحل للنمو العقلى المعرفى يمر الفرد بها بالترتيب من الطفولة وحتى المراهقة وتعتبر هذه المراحل تراكيمة أى أن كل مرحلة تنبثق من المرحل السابقة لها وتعتمد عليها وبذلك فالمرور بالمرحلة الأدنى يعتبر شرطا اساسيا للوصول الى المرحلة الأعلى التالية لها مباشر ة . ويختتم المؤلف الكتاب بأهم التطبيقات التربوية للنظرية والتى يهدف من ورائها الى تحقيق الحد الاقصى من الاستفادة من آراء جان بياجيه فى المجال التربوى يلى ذلك عرض لكيفية الإسراع بالنمو العقلى المعرفى للطفل وهو الأمر الذى يتراوح بين ثلث الى نصف مرحلة وبالتالى يعتبر هذا الكتاب ضروريا للاباء والمربين وكل من يتعامل مع الطفل .
