الدراسة الاقتصادية لا تعدو أن تكون تفسيرا لمظهر واحد من المظاهر المتعددة لسلوك الإنسان، فقد يكون سلوكه سياسيا أو اجتماعيا أو أخلاقيا أو دينيا، ولهذا، فإن هذه الدراسة وثيقة الصلة بالعلوم الاجتماعية الأخرى، كعلم السياسة والدين والأخلاق والاجتماع والمنطق. ولئن عمد العلماء الاجتماعيون إلى الفصل بين هذه الدراسات الاجتماعية المختلفة وجعل كل منها بمعزل عن الآخرى، فهذا الفصل لا يتسق مع طبيعة النشاط الإنسانى فى جوهره وحقيقته، فالمظاهر المتعددة للسلوك الإنسانى متشابكة، مما يتعذر معه عزل كل منها عن الآخر.
والعلماء الاجتماعيون، إذ يعمدون إلى طريقة العزل إنما يستهدفون، فى واقع الأمر، تجزئة مكونات السلوك الإنسانى، بحيث يتوافر كل منهم على التخصص والتعمق فى تحليل جزء أو مظهر واحد من هذا السلوك. ولكن حاملا ننتقل من مجال الدراسة النظرية إلى حل المشكلات العملية، فإن الأمر يدعو إلى التكامل بين جميع فروع الدراسات الاجتماعية حتى غدا هذا التكامل من أمهات المسائل التى أصبحت تحتل مكانا بارزا فى الأدبيات الاجتماعية الحديثة.
وفى غمرة هذه الدراسات المتشبعة، واصل الباحث جهده فى إعداد الطبعة الأولى من هذا الكتاب عن "الرفاهية الاقتصادي". إذ إن المكتبة العربية كانت خلوا من أى مؤلف فى هذا المجال من الدراسة الاقتصادية، وأن الأمانة العلمية تحتم على الباحث سد هذا الفراغ، وعلى الأخص، لما لهذه الدراسة من أهمية بالغة فى مسيرة الحياة العملية على الوجه المنشود، وكان توجه الباحث فى إعداد هذا الكتاب نحو تقسيم مادته العلمية إلى جزئين: الأول عن رفاهية الفرد والثانى عن رفاهية المجتمع.
