أنعم الله سبحانه وتعالى على المملكة العربية السعودية بالكثير من النعم ومنها الأعشاب التي تستخدم لعلاج بعض الأمراض في الطب الشعبي. عن هذه الأعشاب وفوائدها يدور الحديث في هذا الكتاب فيبدأ بالحديث عن الموقع الجغرافي للملكة وأهم أماكن الإنتاج الزراعي فيها وأين تتركز هذه الأعشاب. ثم يتطرق إلى تصنيفها وتقسيمها وتطورها وبيئاتها وتركيبها الظاهري أو المورفولوجي، كذلك يتطرق الكتاب إلى عدد غير قليل من الأعشاب البرية ذات الأهمية الطبية والتي تعنى بها العلوم الصيدلية، وكيفية التداوي بالأعشاب فيما يعرف بالطب التقليدي أو الشعبي، ولم ينس المؤلف الحديث عن النباتات البرية ذات التأثير الخطير والسريع والتي لا يجوز استخدامها إلا عن طريق المتخصصين لتجنب حالات التسمم، مثل معظم النباتات ذات الإفرازات اللبنية كنبات العشار والداتورة والحنظل.
وعلى هذا احتوى الكتاب على مائة نبتة، شرح المؤلف إلى أي فصيلة تنتمي كل منها وفوائدها واستعمالاتها وأجناسها، نذكر منها: "قيصوم"، "اقونيطن"، "الذريرة"، "عين الديك"، "رجل الأسد"، "ثعلبية"، "الشوفا" وغيرها.
