رواية (الحياة الثانية لقسطنطين كفافيس) لطارق إمام، تستعيد حياة الشاعر السكندري اليوناني "قسطنطين كفافيس" (1863 ـ 1933) والذي ولد ومات بالإسكندرية وقضى بها حياته كلها. وترصد الرواية نحو سبعين عاماً عاشها الشاعر، راسمةً في الوقت نفسه صورة واسعة لمدينة الإسكندرية "الكوزموبوليتانية" بين أواسط القرن التاسع عشر إلى العقد الثالث من القرن العشرين، كما تقترب الرواية من كفافيس المتخيل بقدر ما تعيد استقراء ومراجعة سيرته الذاتية المعقدة والغامضة في الكثير من جوانبها.. طامحة في طرح قراءة مراوحة بين الواقع والخيال، وبين التأريخ ووهم التأريخ.
وتطرح الرواية العديد من الأسئلة حول مفهوم "الهوية" متخذة من الشاعر الشهير والمثير للجدل نموذجاً لقدر غير قليل من الأسئلة المعقدة، منها طبيعة علاقته كمغترب، بالمفهوم الثقافي الأشمل الذي يحوي بدوره أكثر من منحى يعمق ذلك الاغتراب، منها مثليته وطبيعة أفكاره واختلافه حتى في سياق القصيدة اليونانية التي كانت تكتب في وطنه الأم أثناء حياته، وعلاقة كل ذلك بحياته في مدينة جنوب المتوسط متشعبة الطبقات، المتجاوزة لحدودها الجغرافية على المستوى الثقافي، والقلقة بدورها في الوقوف على ملمح يمنحها هويتها، التي ظلت دائماً غير المستقرة، ومستقطبة، بين أوروبيتها ومصريتها، وبالتوازي بين كفافيس والإسكندرية يتحرك السرد كاشفاً عن العلاقة الملتبسة بين الفرد والمكان، مع حضور لعدد غير قليل من الشخصيات، مختلفة الجنسيات والأطياف والمعتقدات، والكاشفة لعدد من جوانب كفافيس وإسكندريته في نفس الوقت.
