إن صناعة عرض تليفزيوني يعني أن تكون هناك فكرة، ويكون هناك النص والمؤلفون والكتاب والمعدون والمذيعون ومقدمو البرامج، وممثلون وفنانون "من كل نوع"، فضلاً عن ذلك العدد الهائل من الفنيين المتخصصن في مجالات تصميم وتنفيذ الديكورات والإضاءة والمكياج والخطوط والرسوم والتصوير والصوت والمونتاج والأفلام وأشرطة الفيديو... الخ. وقبل ذلك وبعده يكون المال والمخرج، أي "المنتج والمخرج" أو "المنتج المخرج". فهو المسؤول بل المسؤول الوحيد عن تأليف وتركيب وتكوين تلك العناصر جميعها، وصياغتها بأسلوب خاص، وفي إطار فني مبدع، يقول للمشاهد شيئاً يقنعه أو يمتعه... أو يقنعه ويمتعه في آن واحد.
إن صناعة العرض التليفزيوني على هذا النحو، إنما هي عملية كاملة ومتكاملة لإنتاج الفن. وفن الإنتاج في آن واحد... فهي عملية لا تقتصر على الجانب المادي فحسب، بل تقوم أيضاً على الجوانب الجمالية والإبداعية، والفنية، وليست الأجهزة والآلات والمعدات –رغم أهميتها وضرورتها- إلا أدوات تعمل في خدمة الإبداع وتكثيف الإقناع والإمتاع، وتحويل النص المكتوب من حيز الأفكار المجردة، إلى واقع تجسده الصورة، وحيوية الحركة، وإيحاء الإيقاع، وفاعلية الصوت، ودلالة الكلمات... وذلك هو موضوع هذا الكتاب على وجه التحديد.
إن الفصول الستة عشر، التي يضمها هذا الكتاب عن "الإنتاج التليفزيوني وفنون الإخراج"، إنما تتكامل لتعرض تفصيلاً لكيفية "صناعة" العروض التليفزيونية المختلفة داخل استوديوهات التليفزيون وخارجها، وبمختلف الطرائق والأساليب الفنية، في إطار أنها عملية إنتاج فن وفن إنتاج في آن واحد.
ومن هذا المنطلق.. فإن هذا الكتاب لا يكتفي بأن "يتحدث" أو يشرح للقارئ: "كيف".. بل يقول له أيضاً: "لماذا؟" وكيف تفعل كذا.. ولماذا تفعل؟..
وعلى هذا النحو.. فإن "كيف ولماذا".. هما أداة البحث وهما المحور في كل فصل ولكل فصل من الفصول الستة عشر التي زودت بالصور الشارحة والرسوم التفسيرية والتوضيحية.
