ويعرض هذا الكتاب إلى مرحلة هامة من مراحل الفن المصري وهي مرحلة التنشئة والتكوين التي بدأت في عصور ما قبل الأسرات وامتدت عبر الدولة القديمة تلك المرحلة التاريخية الهامة التي أورثتنا الأهرام الخالدة والتي وضعت المسار الذي حرص الفنانون على اتباعه خلال القرون التالية وحددت هوية وملامح الفن المصري القديم حتى نهاية التاريخ الفرعوني وهي ملامح لم تمت ولم تزل، فنحن المصريين ورثنا الكثير من مشعر أجدادنا والأحاسيس الفنية وترسب في نفوسنا كثير من تصوراتهم وأخيلتهم وأنه لما يفيدنا أن نتعرف على أصول هذا كله لنبني على أساس سليم مكين، وليكون لنا فن أصيل، ينبع من طبيعتنا، ويتفق وما نطمع فيه من مكانة مرموقة بين الأمم الحديثة.
