فثيابي رثة، وشعري أجعد، ونظاراتي صدئة، وحذائي أغبر، أنظر خلفي بين الحين والآخر خشية أن يكون الطريق قد اتسخ بآثار أقدامي!...
لم أكن لأدخل أي سوق، كنت أعرف حق المعرفة ما سيحصل، ولم أكن أريد لأي شخص أن يعرض نفسه لموقف سيء بالصراخ علي لأخرج، ولم أكن أريد أن أعرض نفسي للإحراج، علماً أنني لطالما اضطررت إلى ذلك!...
تعبت من الطرق على الأبواب، تعبت من طلب المعونات، تعبت من الوجود العابسة التي تقفل الباب في وجهي، تعبت من الأطفال يركضون خلفي! إلى متى سيظل هذا الحال؟.
تجرأت لحظة بالوقوف أمام فندق كبير، براق المداخل، أخّاذ المنافذ، تقف أمامه سيارات من أرقى الأنواع، التي لم أكن أحلم يوماً في إقتناء مقودها، أو حتى لمسها وهي تقف إلى جانب الطريق!...
نظرت في إحدى النوافذ، فإذا بالجرائد معلقة لمن يقرؤها، وليست أحدهم كان يقرؤها، ربما ظننت أنها من حقي طالما أن أحداً لم يكن ليلمسها إذا لم أفعل أنا، ولكنني وبعد أن مددت يدي انتبهت إلى أناس يقتربون، فتراجعت من فوري، ووقفت خلف الجدار عسى ألا يراني أحدهم!...
لم أكن شديدة الذعر حيث كنت قد تعرضت للأسوأ، ومع ذلك ظللت خلف الجدار عشر دقائق حتى تأكدت أن ما من أحد بات في الطريق، فعدت لا أدري لماذا ما أزال أريد الجريدة!...
ربما أكون فقيرة، ربما أكون بحاجة إلى قوت يومي، ولكنني أجيد القراءة، وكنت قد تعلمتها في صغري، في أيام كانت الأجمل في حياتي، حيث اللعب واللهو ومتاعب الحياة وراء ظهرونا!...
اقتربت أكثر من الجريدة، حدقت فيها أكثر فأكثر، مددت يدي ولكنني قرأت عنواناً على طرف الصفحة الأخيرة، ربما كان القدر هو من قاد عيني إلى تلك الزاوية الصغيرة، لأن الذي كتب فيها كان إعلاناً لوظيفة.
تعالج الرواية هذه "أمل في القمر" مشكلة العزوف عن العمل والإنصراف إلى العزلة، وهي معالجة جميلة وماتعة، لا تستطيع إذا بدأت في قراءتها أن تتركها قبل أن تتمها.
